The island has a quality that's hard to manufacture — a genuine sense of place. Our job was simply not to get in the way of it.

The project

Overview

Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve is MSC Cruises' private island destination in The Bahamas, surrounded by turquoise water, white sand, and the unmistakable presence of the ship offshore. This one minute film captures the island as an experience rather than a tour, bringing together movement, color, music, and atmosphere in a concentrated destination story.

Creative Purpose

Intention

Rather than creating a conventional tour or walkthrough, we focused on the moments that define a day at Ocean Cay: the anticipation of arrival, the sweep of the shoreline, the energy of the beach, the lighthouse, and the ship framed against the island. The goal was to make viewers feel the destination before they ever arrived.

How we made it

Approach

Fast paced editing, cinematic ground coverage, authorized aerial cinematography, and immersive underwater footage were shaped around an original island inspired score. Moving between the shoreline, the ocean, and the air allowed us to reveal the destination from multiple perspectives while maintaining the energy and momentum of the film.

Operations

Authorized Aerial Operations

Aerial filming required advance coordination with MSC Cruises, authorization from the Civil Aviation Authority of The Bahamas, and aviation insurance coverage for the planned operations. These requirements informed our flight planning, offshore positioning, crowd avoidance, and approach to capturing the island safely and responsibly.
