Panama City, Panama · LONG-FORM DESTINATION FILM · CULTURE, NATURE & EXPERIENCE · 30+ MIN

Panama cannot be understood through a single landmark. We wanted to reveal the many experiences within it—and connect them through one continuous journey.

The project

Overview

Panama City is a destination of remarkable contrasts, where a modern skyline, centuries of history, tropical nature, global commerce, and deeply rooted culture exist within a single journey. Created as an original Waypoint Narrative production, this 30-plus-minute destination film brings those dimensions together in one connected story. From arrival and first impressions through wildlife, architecture, cuisine, craftsmanship, cultural landmarks, and the Panama Canal, the film gives audiences a more complete understanding of what makes Panama worth experiencing.

Creative Purpose

Intention

The objective was to create more than a conventional travel guide or a surface-level collection of attractions. We wanted to build an immersive destination story that could sustain attention over an extended runtime while giving each experience enough space to feel meaningful. By connecting Panama's most recognizable landmarks with its neighborhoods, food, wildlife, history, and local traditions, the film was designed to transform general curiosity into a deeper desire to explore the destination.

How we made it

Approach

The film was structured as a progression through the destination, with each chapter revealing a different dimension of Panama while contributing to one continuous journey. We moved between Panama City's distinct environments and the experiences surrounding it—from Casco Viejo, cultural landmarks, and local cuisine to the Panama Canal, Monkey Island, and the rainforest. Aerial perspectives established scale and geography, while ground-level cinematography brought viewers closer to the textures, people, and atmosphere of each location. Narrative development, editing, color, original music, sound design, and final finishing were completed in house to preserve continuity across the complete film.

Destination in Chapters

Many experiences. One connected story.

A destination as varied as Panama could not be reduced to a single image. The film was organized into distinct editorial chapters, giving audiences multiple points of connection while maintaining a clear narrative journey from arrival through discovery.

Original Music

A score shaped around every chapter.

Original music was created throughout the film to support the changing character of the journey. Rather than relying on a single repeated theme or a collection of unrelated stock tracks, each section was scored around its particular atmosphere, pace, and emotional purpose.

The music evolves with the destination—from the movement of the city and the energy of exploration to the history of Casco Viejo, the scale of the canal, and the quieter encounters with nature. Together, the individual compositions create a cohesive sonic identity across more than 30 minutes of storytelling.

The Format

Long-form storytelling creates room for deeper consideration.

Short-form content can create the first spark of interest. Long-form destination storytelling can answer the questions that follow.

By giving audiences time to understand Panama's range of experiences, the film moves beyond initial inspiration and into meaningful consideration—helping viewers imagine not only why they should visit, but what their own journey could include.
